Job Description

A mid-sized law firm in Pittsburgh PA that is looking for a new Chief Operating Officer.  This position will be part of the leadership team that will provide a variety of support to all areas within the firm including leadership and shareholders.  This position will bring leadership, structure and oversight to the day to day operations of the firm.

Requirements:

  • A seasoned operations leader with 15 years of Operations and Administration experience.
  • Experience with the legal industry practices is beneficial. 
  • Bachelors degree in Business Administration or related field.
  • Experience with the following:
    • Developing and managing internal budgets, financial planning and analysis.
    • Negotiating contracts for leases and services.
    • Leading multiple departments/teams.
    • Providing administrative support to leadership and shareholders.
    • Creating policies and firm communications.

Responsibilities:

  • Liaison between leadership and internal departments.
  • Provides operations leadership across multiple areas within the firm; Finance, Technology, Human Resources, Record Management and Office Services. 
  • Develop agendas and material for Shareholder / Board meetings.
  • Manage Board elections and follow ups.
  • Manage leadership communications.
  • Provide department Chair and Shareholder support.
  • Create, review and implement strategic planning, provide updates.
  • Work with HR to fill positions, attorney performance and financials, onboarding and offboarding, annual benefit plan options, recommendations for bonuses and salaries and firm policy communications.
  • Supervise firm budget, profitability metrics, banking relationships, cashflow and billings.
  • Work with IT to ensure data security and privacy, and implementation of new technology.
  • Member of all internal committees.
