Director of Maintenance / Maintenance Manager

Position Overview
The Director of Maintenance / Maintenance Manager leads and oversees the entire maintenance program for a fleet of training aircraft. This role is responsible for aircraft safety, regulatory compliance, and maximum fleet availability while managing technicians, vendors, budgets, and maintenance records. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong organizational skills and a commitment to safety and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities
Oversee and manage all maintenance activities for a diverse fleet of training aircraft. Ensure full compliance with FAA Part 91 regulations and airworthiness requirements. Supervise A&P technicians and coordinate work with outside vendors and service providers. Maintain accurate aircraft maintenance records, logbooks, and digital tracking systems. Monitor parts inventory and manage maintenance budgets. Coordinate maintenance schedules to support flight operations with minimal downtime. Implement and oversee safety and quality assurance programs. Act as the primary liaison with the FAA during audits and inspections. Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and teamwork within the maintenance department.

Requirements & Qualifications
FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certificate is required. Inspection Authorization (IA) is preferred but not required. Candidates must have a minimum of five years of general aviation maintenance experience, including at least two years in a supervisory or management role. Strong working knowledge of piston-engine aircraft is required, particularly training platforms such as Cessna, Piper, and Diamond. Experience with maintenance tracking software and digital logbook systems is expected. Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills are essential, along with a high level of attention to detail and a demonstrated commitment to safety and regulatory compliance.
