Field Geologist
Location: Michigan (multiple project sites) Employment Type: Full-Time
Job Summary
We are seeking a Field Geologist to support environmental and geotechnical projects across Michigan. This role involves field investigations, sample collection, site documentation, and coordination with project managers to ensure regulatory compliance and accurate data reporting. Ideal candidates are detail-oriented, field-driven, and comfortable working independently at active project sites.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct field investigations including soil, groundwater, and environmental sampling
Perform site inspections, monitoring, and data collection in accordance with project scopes
Log soil borings, monitor well installations, and assist with remediation activities
Document field activities, prepare field notes, and maintain accurate records
Coordinate with project managers, contractors, and regulatory agencies as needed
Ensure compliance with state and federal environmental regulations
Assist with report preparation and data interpretation
Follow safety protocols and maintain field equipment
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Earth Science, or related field
0–5 years of field or environmental experience (entry-level candidates encouraged)
Knowledge of environmental sampling methods and field procedures
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions across Michigan
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Phase I/II Environmental Site Assessments
Familiarity with Michigan environmental regulations
OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER (or ability to obtain)
Strong written and verbal communication skills
