Position Overview
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented SQF Specialist to lead food safety and quality management systems. As the designated SQF Practitioner, you will be responsible for the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of our Safe Quality Food (SQF) Program to ensure full compliance with SQF Code requirements and regulatory standards (FDA/USDA).
Key Responsibilities
- SQF Management: Oversee and maintain the facility’s SQF food safety management system, ensuring all processes align with current SQF Code Edition 9 requirements.
- Compliance & HACCP: Develop, validate, and verify HACCP-based food safety plans and preventive controls (PCQI).
- Auditing: Conduct monthly internal audits, manage corrective actions, and lead the facility through annual third-party SQF certification audits.
- Training: Educate employees on Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and food safety culture.
- Record Keeping: Ensure all food safety documentation, including sanitation logs and equipment maintenance records, is accurate and audit-ready.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or a related field (preferred).
- Experience: 3+ years of quality assurance experience in a food or beverage manufacturing environment.
- Certification:
- Completion of an HACCP training course.
- SQF Practitioner training and exam.
- PCQI certification is a strong plus.
- Skills: Strong knowledge of FDA/USDA regulations, internal auditing, and Spanish/English bilingual skills are preferred.
