Job Description

 Controller – Luxury Custom Home Builder

A premier luxury custom home builder with an outstanding reputation for excellence and craftsmanship is seeking a Controller to oversee and elevate all financial operations. This is a key leadership position supporting high-end projects—often exceeding $2M–$10M per home—and working closely with ownership, project managers, and external partners

Responsibilites: 

• Oversee day-to-day accounting functions, including AP/AR, payroll, job costing, billing, and reconciliations
• Maintain accurate tracking of construction budgets, change orders, and draw schedules
• Partner with ownership and PMs to forecast cash flow and monitor financial performance by job
• Prepare monthly and year-end financial statements and manage relationships with CPAs and banks
• Ensure compliance with lien laws, insurance requirements, and subcontractor documentation
• Continually assess and improve internal controls, financial processes, and accounting systems
• Contribute to strategic planning and company growth initiatives

Experience: 

• 5+ years of experience in construction accounting, preferably in high-end residential or custom homebuilding
• Strong knowledge of job costing, WIP schedules, draw processes, and construction project accounting
• Ability to work closely with a small, high-performance team in a fast-paced environment
• Detail-oriented and trustworthy, with strong communication and organizational skills
