JOB DESCRIPTION

We are seeking an associate to join the Family Law practice group in our Harrisburg office. The associate will work closely with shareholders and associates on the full spectrum of family law client cases. Some of the key anticipated responsibilities are listed below:

  • Support clients in the areas of family law including divorce, equitable distribution of property and assets, alimony and spousal support, child custody, and adoption.
  • Perform thorough legal research, identifying necessary information to support senior counsel and clients.
  • Assist clients in determining the proper solution to legal conflicts and determine the best course of action.
  • Draft documents including correspondence, pleadings, motions, briefs, affidavits, settlement agreements, and contracts to be used in proceedings and contract negotiations.
  • Assist in preparation of expert reports and mediation statements.
  • Represent clients in regular court appearances.
  • Prepare for trial including deposition preparation, discovery, and case preparation.
  • File court documents and adhere to strict timelines.
  • Draft discovery in addition to pleadings.
  • Collaborate with clients and senior counsel to move cases toward resolution efficiently.
  • Maintain client files ensuring information is updated and easily accessed.
  • Collaborate with senior counsel and marketing to develop client base and meet or exceed billing requirements.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • License to practice law in Pennsylvania 
  • JD from an accredited law school 
  • 1-4 years’ experience family law experience and trial experience in both the common pleas level and superior court
  • Experience with Orphan’s Court and Prothonotary’s Offices
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Solid writing and editing skills with a focus on developing thoughtful and persuasive messaging
  • Ability to work in and adapt to a fast-paced work environment
  • Strong organizational, time management, and project management mindset
  • Commitment to professionalism, cooperation, and teamwork
  • A strong drive to provide proactive, client-focused legal services

BENEFICIAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with iManage document management system
  • Experience filing court documents, electronically preferred
  • Active Notary license
