Job Description

Position Overview: A well-established general contractor is seeking an experienced Federal Construction Superintendent to lead on-site operations for complex, high-profile federal projects across the Southeastern United States. The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of leadership in field supervision, a commitment to safety and quality, and deep knowledge of federal construction requirements.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Champion and enforce a culture of safety; ensure compliance with safety, health, and environmental standards on-site

  • Serve as the primary on-site representative, upholding a high standard of service, professionalism, and integrity

  • Open and secure the jobsite daily; maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work environment

  • Coordinate all phases of construction, including logistics, materials, equipment, and subcontractor activities

  • Develop and manage site logistics plans and project schedules

  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with approved plans and specifications

  • Monitor daily progress and maintain detailed jobsite documentation, including logs and photos

  • Lead jobsite meetings, including daily huddles and weekly trade coordination

  • Communicate and follow up on RFIs, submittals, ASIs, and other project documents

  • Coordinate required inspections and assist with permitting as needed

  • Support project closeout activities, including punch list management

  • Collaborate with the project team to manage budgets and project costs

  • Conduct preparatory meetings with subcontractors before work begins

  • Supervise area superintendents and ensure full scope compliance by all subcontractors and vendors

  • Identify conflicts in construction progress and escalate for resolution

Qualifications:

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred

  • Equivalent relevant experience will be considered in lieu of a degree

Experience:

  • 15+ years of experience in federal construction

  • 10+ years of field supervision experience in a lead superintendent role

Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong interpersonal and team-building skills

  • Excellent communication, both verbal and written

  • Ability to manage multiple scopes and subcontractors simultaneously

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, project management platforms, and scheduling software

  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications

  • Knowledge of Lean principles and federal compliance requirements

  • Understanding of construction methods, scopes of work, and documentation processes

  • Proven ability to deliver projects on time and within budget
