Associate Attorney – Affordable Housing & Real Estate Transactions
Location: San Francisco, CA | Hybrid or Fully Remote Schedule Available

We are working with well-established boutique law firm in the Bay Area that has built a strong reputation in complex real estate and finance transactions. The firm represents mission-driven clients on a variety of development and community-focused projects, with work that spans real estate, finance, and related transactional matters. Attorneys here get meaningful, hands-on experience while contributing to impactful projects in a collaborative environment.

We are seeking an Associate Attorney (3–10+ years of experience) to join the team. The Associate will work closely with partners and clients on a variety of complex affordable housing and community development transactions. This is an excellent opportunity to develop sophisticated skills in real estate, corporate governance, tax credit financing, and secured lending while working in a supportive and collegial environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead purchase and sale transactions, ground leases, development agreements, and financing conversions.

  • Draft and negotiate agreements, easements, licenses, and closing documents with minimal supervision.

  • Support developers in negotiations with private lenders, governmental lenders, tax credit investors, and funds.

  • Manage due diligence, economic projections, and transaction issue spotting with strong attention to detail.

  • Supervise project coordinators on closing logistics and transaction management.

  • Build and maintain strong client relationships and interact with key government agencies.

Qualifications

  • J.D. from an accredited law school; licensed to practice in California.

  • 3–10+ years of transactional legal experience, preferably in real estate or affordable housing finance.

  • Strong drafting, negotiation, and document review skills.

  • Familiarity with private/public lending, tax credit structures, and government processes.

  • Excellent organizational, communication, and project management skills.

  • Collaborative team player with the ability to work independently.
