Professional Transportation Engineer

Key Responsibilities:

  • Roadway Design: Develop preliminary and final layouts.
  • ADA Compliance: Scope and design accessible pedestrian facilities for new builds and retrofits.
  • Intersection Design: Design for at-grade intersections, roundabouts, J-turns, & interchanges.
  • Multi-Disciplinary Integration: Ensure roadway, drainage, and traffic designs are coordinated.
  • Plans, Specs, and Estimates (PS&E): Lead the production of complete packages for bidding and construction.
  • Quality Control: Review technical documents for accuracy and standards compliance.
  • Project Leadership: Manage design teams to deliver projects on time and within budget.
  • Team Development: Mentor junior staff through task planning to strengthen technical skills and engineering judgement.

 Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (or related engineering field)
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE)
  • 4+ years transportation design experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to generating high-quality work on schedule
  • Strong working technical knowledge of engineering principles and practices, including MnDOT State Aid Standards
  • Technical expertise using MicroStation or AutoCAD Civil 3D on transportation projects
  • Experience supervising, leading, teaching and mentoring project staff
  • Previous experience generating proposals, scopes, budgets, and schedules
  • Prior experience with utility design including watermain and sewer design
